Cultural Arts-Centered Programming
At Artspace Southern Illinois, creativity isn’t just what we do—it’s who we are. We believe art has the power to spark imagination, bring people together, and transform communities. That’s why we make it our mission to ensure everyone can experience and create art, regardless of age, ability, or background.
Our work starts with listening. We’re deeply rooted in Southern Illinois and develop programs and partnerships that mirror our community voices while connecting them to a broader world of artistic and cultural opportunities. Inclusion and accessibility are more than just values; they are commitments. We break down barriers so art truly belongs to everyone.
We also believe that learning never ends. From playful youth programs to professional artist residencies, we create environments where curiosity thrives and creativity flourishes at every stage of life. Because we care about the future, we manage our financial, environmental, and cultural resources responsibly and with foresight, ensuring Artspace remains a vibrant hub for generations to come.
Innovation drives our progress. We welcome new ideas and technologies that keep the arts and culture vibrant and meaningful while remaining faithful to our mission and core values. At Artspace Southern Illinois, we’re not just supporting the cultural arts—we’re creating a vibrant community where everyone feels they belong.
Our Strategic Planning Process
We engaged in a collaborative strategic planning process guided by our Board of Directors and senior staff who share a deep commitment to the organization, our region, and the cultural arts.
This process was informed by feedback from our Illinois Arts Council–funded Artspace Southern Illinois 2025 Business and Retail Plan and its complementary patron survey.
