Who We Are

Artspace Southern Illinois is a leading arts organization in the region, dedicated to supporting independent artists, opening up opportunities for everyone to discover and enjoy the arts, and helping build creative, connected communities.

Founded in 1987 as a grassroots effort, Artspace Southern Illinois has grown to serve people from communities across the region, showcasing the arts through three dedicated venues and a network of partnerships. Thanks to the commitment of artists, community leaders, and neighbors, we’re here to provide services to independent artists as they grow and continue creating and sharing their work, and give people the chance to experience and participate in the arts—including in underserved communities and places it can have a significant impact. We believe the arts are for everyone. There are no rules for what inspires or moves someone, for what people like or don’t, or for how art makes you feel—EXPLORE.
