Independent Artist, Fern Logan

As Professor Emerita of Cinema & Photography at Southern Illinois University, Logan has spent decades mentoring local artists and helping expand the arts in our region. Additionally, her book The Artist Portrait Series, which includes portraits of prominent Black artists such as Romare Bearden, Elizabeth Catlett, and Jacob Lawrence, was published by Southern Illinois University Press. Her artwork is included in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution, the Harlem State Office Building, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, and Michigan Technological University. She is also the recent recipient of Artspace Southern Illinois and 3Arts Residency Grant.
