Carbondale Mini-Mural Project - Artist Submissions


Have Your Work Featured in a Very Special Outdoor Gallery!

We’ve supported the creation of several murals across Southern Illinois, and now, in partnership with the City of Carbondale, we’re excited to transform the alley walkway between Rips Pizza and Legal Smile into a colorful walk-through public gallery featuring 8 mini-murals that showcase the work of Illinois artists.

Submissions Open NOW through Oct. 24

Artists who love working big—this is your chance to create a mural and have your art on full display.

Eligibility:

Artists must be 18 years or older.Artists must live in Illinois or be a graduate of SIU-Carbondale.Any artist who was awarded a Welcome, Carbondale! grant after January 1, 2025 is not eligible for this round of awards.Each artist may submit up to two original designs.

Requirements:

Completed online application form. Rendering of proposed mural design.List of materials to be used (only paint is allowed).Artists are responsible for obtaining all materials.

How to Apply: Applications are accepted online through the Artspace 304 website and the link below.

Each selected artist receives:

$750 for materials (upon contract signing)$750 upon mural completion
Total stipend: $1,500 per panel (Artists may be awarded up to 2 panels)
