Help Us Continue to Bring the Cultural Arts to Everyone
Starting as a grassroots organization, for more than 30 years, Artspace Southern Illinois has been supporting independent artists and expanding opportunities to discover and experience the cultural arts in our communities. In the past year alone, we invested more than $150,000 in funding for local artists, creative programs, and community initiatives. Plus, more than 10,000 people across 24 counties have participated in free, public creative programs and activities.
Our funding has supported various cultural arts programs—one example is a drama camp providing opportunities for kids and teens in the Southern Illinois region. The founder shared that the camp fills a vital need—bringing together children and teens from diverse backgrounds, many facing economic challenges, offering creative opportunities, and a place where young people gain a sense of belonging and feel supported. She shared, “[Kids}...come alive, open up, and support one another....”, noting that some kids even stop by the center because they “just want someone to talk to....”
Thanks to funding, the camp has more than doubled in size—with plans to continue growing. It remains open to anyone who wants to participate, creating a welcoming space where young people gain self-esteem, make connections, and gain confidence and social skills.
Your gift helps us be able to continue our work to bring cultural arts programming, exhibits, events, and opportunities to more people and support independent creatives across our region.
Supporting Economic Develop in Southern Illinois
The arts play a vital role in economic development, especially in small communities like those in our region. “National studies show that attendees at nonprofit arts events spend an average of $38.46 beyond admission, supporting local shops, restaurants, and services.” from Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 study by Americans for the Arts.
Please give—at a time when arts funding is being reduced and cut, we need your help to continue serving our region.
Any amount helps and supports communities in Southern Illinois. Thank you.
