Meet Me In Murphysboro Mural

Artist: Chris DeShazo

Location: Corner of 14th & Walnut Street, Murphysboro, IL

Materials: Paint on existing brick wall

Installation date: 2021

This is the first mural in Murphysboro from the Revitalize 62966 – Arts In The Community committee. This mural was painted on the side of a historical building in the downtown area and pays homage to items of interest from both the past and present. Images include The Big Muddy Monster, apples representing Murphysboro’s orchards and the annual Apple Festival, the historic downtown, John A. Logan (in Puck-cartoon style), the Riverside Park Band Shell, outdoor activities everyone can enjoy, and one of the town’s old train depots. All of these pictures showcase the unique and beautiful aspects in and around the hometown of Murphysboro.

Colorful mural on brick wall with a large sign saying "Welcome to Morphisboro, As American As Apple Pie". The mural includes a gorilla, an urban street scene, a fish, and a plate of apple pie with a whole apple on top.
