Located on the building’s west-facing wall, Candace’s mural explores the passage of time through the imagery of trains—an enduring symbol of movement and connection in the region. Trains have long traveled through this area, transporting coal, grain, and passengers, serving as an important form of transportation and commerce.
Candace is a Southern Illinois-based artist and muralist with an impressive portfolio of completed works. Her murals can be found not only in Illinois—including here in Carbondale, as well as Frankfort, and Makanda—but also in Hannibal, MO; and Camp Verde, AZ.
